The most unpredictable disaster : Earth Quake

The most unpredictable disaster : Earth Quake

An earthquake is the result of a sudden release of stored energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. Earthquakes are measured with a seismometer. The magnitude of an earthquake is reported using the Richter scale with magnitude 3 or lower earthquakes being hard to notice and magnitude 7 causing serious damage over large areas.

At the Earth's surface, earthquakes may manifest themselves by a shaking of the ground. Sometimes, they cause tsunamis, which may lead to loss of life and destruction of property. An earthquake is caused by tectonic plates getting stuck and putting a strain on the ground. The strain becomes so great that rocks give way by breaking and sliding along fault planes.

Earthquakes may occur naturally or as a result of human activities. Smaller earthquakes can also be caused by volcanic activity, landslides, mine blasts, and nuclear experiments. In its most generic sense, the word earthquake is used to describe any seismic event—whether a natural phenomenon or an event caused by humans—that generates seismic waves.

I in my life have witnessed 3 Earth Quakes. The most fear full of all was the one which I witnessed in 10th standard. This was the Earth Quake occurred on 26th January'01. It had its epicenter in Gujrat Bhuj.

It was Over 8.5 on the Richter scale.

At that time I was in Delhi. It was a holiday for 26th Jan so I had just got up from my sleep. The first thing I could feel as I kept my foot on ground was that earth was shaking under me. Before I could realize that what had happened I could hear people shouting from some where that Earth Quake has struck. Our flat was on the fifth floor. I could see the fan shaking above my head as it would fall of the sealing. It felt as if I was having some tremors. But it was god's grace that we were not in Gujrat. It stopped after a minute. By this time many people staying on the ground floor had already arrived on streets.

Before that also I had witnessed Earth Quake once at night 1AM.

People say that animals have sixth senses by which they can predict what is going to happen in some time in near future. This is a real thing I have experienced. Before the Earth Quake I could hear crows shouting at night, Dogs making noise different types of noise.

If earth quakes can be predicted by anyways then many precious lifes can be saved..

to be cont....
