Reforms in Education System

India is having a large pool of young educated people. Many of them remain unemployed. The unemployed people include professional educated graduates such as Engineers. The main reason for such a situation is mismatch between the skills set needs of Industry in the Country and the output of education system.

There seems to be lack of assessment of the needs of industry both in terms of requirement as well as skills. Due to this many educated Indians have moved out of country in search of jobs. Such people after very humble beginning have become persons of reckoning in no time. Some of the educated persons of India have proved themselves to be knowledge bomb. This is corroborated by the fact that that several Indians who have moved out of the country have excelled in their fields. It seems that they have developed this capability not because of education system but because of their own trade. They have indicated the potential of human assets available in the country to the world.

In spite of this fact, India is hardly considered as knowledge superpower when compared with the developed Western countries. To retain the talent in the Country and to become as knowledge superpower, it is necessary that the education system should be reformed in such a manner so that output of education system fits in the industry within the country itself. This is a pre-requisite for any Country to become knowledge power that their young people are gainfully employed.

This is possible only if skill based education is imparted. Further, in order to become knowledge super power, it is required that education system in the country should be able to support and sustain the growth in the country.

In the present education system, there is a desire for all the individuals to pursue job-oriented professional courses. However, it is felt that in order to become knowledge super power, it is necessary that the focus should be on development of in-house technology with a vision to have zero-dependence on borrowed technology. To achieve this, it is required that most of the educated people should be employable who should be contributing to the development of the society, country as well as humanity. The education should be made goal oriented with emphasis on developing the definite skills after identifying the individual trade. For this education system should be reformed in such a way that, in collaboration with the industry, it should support Research & Development.

For this purpose, modern regulatory methods should be employed instead of controlling the education through various institutions like UGC, ACITE etc. The knowledge base developed in this manner shall be more effective in sustainable development of the society, country as well as humanity, at large in the long run.

However, while making such reforms in the education system, the short term needs of the industry should not be ignored. Hence it is necessary that such reforms should not only be specific and time bound but also be gradual and fruitful.

Industry should play a very vital role by sharing the experience with the educational institutes. For modernizing the education system, heavy investment of funds shall be required. It may not be possible for the Government to spare that much of funds. So the education should be privatized. However, before privatizing the education, sufficient regularly mechanism should be developed so that education institutes does not become a source of profit making activity.

The participation and collaboration with Foreign Universities may lead to dramatic improvement in the educational system of the Country.

Curriculum of the higher education should also include of needs of rural India. Special courses on agriculture and other related activities need to be included in various courses. This will increase Penetration level of education the best results.

In a nut shell to make India a knowledge super power, reforms in the education system involvement of the industry collaboration with foreign institutes and emphasis on ancient culture of the Country and agriculture is the need of hour for the country to remain prosperous and become Knowledge Superpower..

IMPACT OF SURROUNDINGS ON PERSONALITY

I was born on 3rd September, 1985 in a middle class family. I lived in the
capital of the country i.e. Delhi in a posh colony known as VASANT VIHAR.
I have done my schooling since nursery in a very reputed school known as
Delhi Public School, Vasantkunj, and New Delhi. As such our batch was the
made in batch for this school. Before this I have joined a play
school known as SHISHU VAN being run by a German lady.
All the things required by a middle class family were available
with us. My vivid memory to the earliest possible incident is regarding my
request for purchasing a video game. My parents may be due to the economic
constraints did not purchase the same for me.While all the children of my
age were enjoying number of video games and such gazettes at that time, I
feel that I was deprived of the opportunity which had an impact on me for
quite a long period. When I recollect and reconcile it with the
circumstances, I found that the fellow students in my class belong to some
of the richest families of Delhi.
I feel that the items, games, gazettes, available with them which I at
that time had a feeling to possess were not possible to be arranged by my
parents.
However, Company of such people has both positive and negative
impact on my life. I could not make many friends in my childhood among the
class mates as the standard of living was different. However, due to non
availability of sufficient funds I could save myself from falling in the
bad company in line with the proverb It is to better to be alone than
fall in a bad company.
I am proud to be a non smoker, teetotaler without addiction to any
drug inspire of staying all alone for last five years for pursuing higher
studies. I am a loner and like to keep my self aloof. The psychological
reason for this seems to be the atmosphere in which I was brought up. I
had no brother or sister till the age of nine years. Thus at home, I was
monarch of all I survey. There was nobody to share the love and affection
with me.
However, when I was nine years old, I was fortunate enough to have
a sister. The attention of my parents was diverted to her and I started
feeling a bit neglected. At that time, I was studying in Class IV. Prior
to her birth, my Mother used to teach me and help in home work. However,
it was not possible for her to take care of my studies after the birth of
my Sister. My Father being busy with his official work, I felt lot of
difficulties in coping with the requirement. Even today I remember that in
my childhood all the neighbors used to tell that the best companion of
Prashant is his Mother. I started feeling hurt as Mother was not paying
that much attention as she used to pay earlier.
By this time, we have moved to a bigger house where the neighbours
were affluent. We also could afford to have some of the items of envy.
However, by this time, Cable TV has become a craze. We could not afford
Cable TV and have to satisfy our self with the National TV channel. My
favorite programme used to be MOUGLEY. It has given a lot of strength to
me in shaping my future career.
When I review my past, I feel that the gap in the age of me and my
sister did not have a very positive impact on my future. Similarly, the
different economic level in the fellow students had adverse impact due to
superiority and inferiority complex feelings. However, this gives an
exposure to various facets of life. One can choose any path which
otherwise remains uncovered for lower strata of society. I am grateful to
almighty that in spite of such adverse circumstances, I am pursuing my
career in a reasonably reputed Institute and have been successful in
obtaining my graduation degree at a reasonably good score.

Why Open Source ?

Open source is a development method for software that harnesses the power of distributed peer review and transparency of process. The promise of open source is better quality, higher reliability, more flexibility, lower cost, and an end to predatory vendor lock-in.

The Open Source Initiative (OSI) is a non-profit corporation formed to educate about and advocate for the benefits of open source and to build bridges among different constituencies in the open-source community.

One of our most important activities is as a standards body, maintaining the Open Source Definition for the good of the community. The Open Source Initiative Approved License trademark and program creates a nexus of trust around which developers, users, corporations and governments can organize open-source cooperation.

Open source doesn't just mean access to the source code. The distribution terms of open-source software must comply with the following criteria:

1. Free Redistribution

2. Source Code

3. Derived Works

4. Integrity of The Author's Source Code

5. No Discrimination Against Persons or Groups

6. No Discrimination Against Fields of Endeavor

7. Distribution of License

8. License Must Not Be Specific to a Product

9. License Must Not Restrict Other Software

10. License Must Be Technology-Neutral

The most unpredictable disaster : Earth Quake

The most unpredictable disaster : Earth Quake

An earthquake is the result of a sudden release of stored energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. Earthquakes are measured with a seismometer. The magnitude of an earthquake is reported using the Richter scale with magnitude 3 or lower earthquakes being hard to notice and magnitude 7 causing serious damage over large areas.

At the Earth's surface, earthquakes may manifest themselves by a shaking of the ground. Sometimes, they cause tsunamis, which may lead to loss of life and destruction of property. An earthquake is caused by tectonic plates getting stuck and putting a strain on the ground. The strain becomes so great that rocks give way by breaking and sliding along fault planes.

Earthquakes may occur naturally or as a result of human activities. Smaller earthquakes can also be caused by volcanic activity, landslides, mine blasts, and nuclear experiments. In its most generic sense, the word earthquake is used to describe any seismic event—whether a natural phenomenon or an event caused by humans—that generates seismic waves.

I in my life have witnessed 3 Earth Quakes. The most fear full of all was the one which I witnessed in 10th standard. This was the Earth Quake occurred on 26th January'01. It had its epicenter in Gujrat Bhuj.

It was Over 8.5 on the Richter scale.

At that time I was in Delhi. It was a holiday for 26th Jan so I had just got up from my sleep. The first thing I could feel as I kept my foot on ground was that earth was shaking under me. Before I could realize that what had happened I could hear people shouting from some where that Earth Quake has struck. Our flat was on the fifth floor. I could see the fan shaking above my head as it would fall of the sealing. It felt as if I was having some tremors. But it was god's grace that we were not in Gujrat. It stopped after a minute. By this time many people staying on the ground floor had already arrived on streets.

Before that also I had witnessed Earth Quake once at night 1AM.

People say that animals have sixth senses by which they can predict what is going to happen in some time in near future. This is a real thing I have experienced. Before the Earth Quake I could hear crows shouting at night, Dogs making noise different types of noise.

If earth quakes can be predicted by anyways then many precious lifes can be saved..
