I joined FPGDST course at CDAC Bangalore on 6th August 2007. As I was new to the city, I had come a bit earlier i.e. a day before the joining. I made a special attempt to come earlier so that one day I could go around the city and familiarize my self with the city. Accordingly, I spent my day on 5th going around the city. I also visited to electronic city to have a look at the facilities that are available in the neighbor hood. I visited the hostel and various other locations.
On 6th I came in to CDAC at the scheduled reporting time i.e. in the morning at around 9 A.M. I was highly impressed by on that day by observing every thing was being done as per schedule indicating the importance being paid to the punctuality that was maintained in every task
At 10 A.M we had an inaugural lecture. The lecture was nice enough except for the harsh realities spoken in few words by Raman Sir which at that point of time seemed to discourage a fresher from pursuing the course. The words spoken were,” if any time you feel that you cannot cope up with the course you must leave and go”. The actual lectures were delivered on the right on the first day itself.
Right from the first day we had started implementing what we learned. Every thing had to be done on time. We could not be even a minute late for our tea or dinner or the only answer we would get is over form the person present there.
We had already started sitting at nights till about 1. Initially I found a lot of difficulty in sitting at night as I did not have the habit of sitting at nights. I used to work the whole day but would never wake up
at night. The reason for this was that I have migraine problem so it was suggested by the doctors to have ample sleep. But slowly I started adjusting and within a weeks time my sleeping time had changed from 10.30 in night to 1.
I had already done java in my graduation so initially I did not find difficulty in making small programs. But as the programs started getting complicated I some times would have the feeling that I would never be able to do those programs. The main reason for this was that my friends used to make those programs very quickly and it took me a lot of time thinking logic for these kinds of programs. The thing behind this was that we had never been doing such kind of programs before so it took some time before I got adjusted to such a level of programming.
By this time our MGPAS had started. I easily cleared my first MGPA. After this the trouble and a period of frustration started. I could not clear any MGPA from second to fourth. I felt so disappointed and often started feeling that I would never be able to see the magic figure of 4 MGPAS. But fortunately with God’s grace I could clear the next 3 MGPAS to reach the target figure and then I cleared one more. That made my total to 5. With the MGPAS running we also had maths exams and tcom evaluations. This was the first time in life that we were having such a lot of work load. There are still a lot of topics that I have still not covered and I am struggling to complete some subjects....
I have learnt a lot in this trimester. A lot about life..... And a lot to learn is still left in coming period
